I was so happy to have eyelashes (comped and free for being an influencer/blogger/whatever) but for a day or two – or three – I was in denial. Are eyelashes supposed to hurt and burn this bad? Or was it just me being overly sensitive? Here is what happened…
I practically record every new experience I get myself into and that included getting my first ever set of eyelash extensions. I share not to convince people not to get eyelash extensions but to share that if you do decide to get them, there is a chance that you can get hurt and have burning eyes. For whatever reason, I didn’t google the risks before undergoing the procedure. I have never heard of anyone getting hurt and I envied those who had huge lashes naturally or could afford the upkeep month after month.
As you will see, I didn’t get too hurt (as in lose my eye – yes it can happen) but it definitely was something I had never heard of before; eyelash extensions hurting the eyeballs. It was only after I was having pain that I started googling and found that things can go very wrong.
I still want to get lash extensions done on me again in the future, but for now, I will stick to my mascaras. After asking around, people told me that it may not only be the glue. It could be the tech’s method, as in the eye pads might have been hitting the bottom of my eyeballs for the hour she was working on me, lash and glue could have fallen in, or it could be the glue fumes irritating me as it takes about 2 days (48 hours) for it to fully stop emitting fumes. I really don’t know.
To those who get this done with no pain, I envy you.
Have you experienced any pain with eyelash extensions?
I have opted to not disclose the place as my friends and fellow bloggers have had no problems or pain with their extensions and don’t want to cause hysteria. But I am in search of a new place.
